Myasnikovich elected Speaker of Council of Republic
MINSK (BelTA) – Senators elected Mikhail Myasnikovich as Speaker of the Council of the Republic on 16 January, BelTA has learned.
As was informed earlier, Mikhail Myasnikovich was appointed member of the Council of the Republic by Decree No.647 of 27 December 2014 in line with Article 91/2 of the Constitution of Belarus.
Mikhail Myasnikovich thanked the senators for the support.
Mikhail Myasnikovich also touched upon the presidential election that is due to take place in 2015. “During this historically important period we need to become even more consolidated around our leader, Alexander Lukashenko,” the new Speaker said. He also stressed the need to strengthen ties with the parliaments of the EEU member states.
