Stronger protection for Belarusian foster children in Italy as from 2016

MINSK (BelTA) – There are plans to sign the protocol on stepping up the protection of Belarusian children, who are adopted in Italy, in 2016, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Yelena Kupchina after consultations between the Belarusian and Italian ministries of foreign affairs on 3 March.

Yelena Kupchina noted that the adoption of Belarusian children by Italian families had been discussed during the consultations. “We are going to sign the relevant protocol next year. It will provide stronger safety guarantees to Belarusian children, who are adopted by Italian families,” she said. The official went on saying that children's interests will be prioritized.

According to the Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister, the consultations also tabled economic and investment cooperation between Belarus and Italy. Apart from that, participants of the consultations talked about the international agenda and political interaction between Belarus and the European Union.
