Digital queue at Belarusian border checkpoint Brest as from 1 September

MINSK (BelTA) – A digital queue system for vehicles will go operational at the international automobile border checkpoint Brest on 1 September, BelTA has learned.

Specialists are now working hard to implement the project in line with presidential decree No. 305 of 2 July 2015, which regulates the creation of digital queue systems for vehicles at border checkpoints. The operation of the system is regulated by Council of Ministers executive order No. 1130 of 31 December 2015.

As from 1 September all the vehicle traffic that crosses the Belarusian-Polish border via the border checkpoint Brest will have to use the digital queue system. Fees will be collected only if the driver books the time of entering the border checkpoint from the waiting area.

Vehicles without a booked time will cross the border using the principle “first come, first served”. Once they enter the waiting area, each vehicle will be registered by the operator, the registration number and the queue priority number will be up on a large display. The display will be installed soon and will be visible from any point in the waiting area. Vehicles will travel from the waiting area to the border checkpoint proper in accordance with their priority in the digital queue system.

The digital queue system will be in test mode as from 26 August. Motorists are invited to use the website belarusborder.by to book the time when their vehicle will be able to enter the border checkpoint at least three hours in advance. The digital queue system is designed to process 20-25 vehicles per hour, this is why motorists are kindly requested to book their time online in advance.

Vehicles with a booked entry time will be able to enter the waiting area using a dedicated channel. Drivers will then be able to see their queue priority number on the large display and a small one that will be installed soon. Such vehicles will be able to leave the waiting area within one hour of the booked time.

If a vehicle with a booked time arrives in advance, it will have to wait at a local parking lot. This is why arriving too early is not a good idea.

Motorists will have to pay one base amount to book the time of entering an automobile border checkpoint on days right before the weekend and during the weekend, right before holidays and during holidays, during state holidays or red-letter days. The fee will be 80% of the base amount on other days.
