Lukashenko urges to energize talks on Belarus' accession to WTO

MINSK (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko gave an instruction to energize the process of negotiations on Belarus' accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), Belarus' Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov told reporters on 29 March after the meeting to discuss the interaction with the WTO, BelTA has learned.

“The President was in favor of ramping up this process by the Belarusian side,” he said.

Andrei Kobyakov noted that the Belarusian side hopes that the partners of Belarus in the WTO will formulate their proposals regarding the terms of Belarus' accession to the WTO in the near future. As a result, it will be possible to make out a schedule of the talks and to finish the process of negotiations as soon as possible.

“We will join the WTO,” Andrei Kobyakov stressed.
