Lukashenko hopes for higher professionalism of Belarus' parliament

MINSK (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko expects that the professionalism of the parliament will increase. He made the statement at the meeting with Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko on 28 March, BelTA has learned.

The parliamentary election will take place in Belarus in 2016. The President stressed that the members of the parliament of this convocation should take an active part in the preparations for the forthcoming election campaign. According to the head of state, it is needed to step up work with the population in constituencies, provide assistance in the resolution of topical issues to local authorities. Such measures should help attract active and skilled people to the new parliament, such people who will be able to solve social and economic development issues in the country.

Alexander Lukashenko remarked that this is the work for the state and in this case there is no need to show any unclear democracy.

“Our responsibility is very high because we are elected by people,” the President said. Alexander Lukashenko was satisfied with the work of the current MPs. At the same time, he added that he will do his best to attract even more professional people to the parliament.
