Lukashenko expects meaningful discussions at Belarusian People's Congress

PINSK (BelTA) – I expect meaningful discussions of the issues regarding the country's social and economic development at the Belarusian People's Congress, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he talked to the staff of Amkodor Pinsk on 27 May, BelTA has learned.

According to the head of state, the forthcoming event is important for executives of different level in the first place. “They should hear and see which way the country is going to develop. It will be a meaningful discussion of problematic issues. These are not simple matters. They will, first of all, feel the load of the tasks to be set forth and will take part in the development of the corresponding policy,” the President noted.

Attending the Belarusian People's Congress will also be workers, representatives of the agricultural and other sectors who will speak on behalf of their labor collectives.

“The Belarusian People's Congress will set out the prospects for the future. We will take a look at the industry, its development pace, agriculture, transport, construction sector and so on,” said the head of state.

Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that the three main priorities were outlined at the recent government session for the country's social and economic development program for the next five years. These are investments, creation of jobs and export promotion. “I asked to look wider. Perhaps we will have five priorities,” the Belarusian leader noted. Alexander Lukashenko added that various political issues will be discussed at the Belarusian People's Congress as well. “Economy, however, will be high on agenda. We have already considered all other areas, and economy remains an issue that raises a lot of questions and even disagreements. I have instructed to finalize the program within the next ten days,” said the President.
