Strategy to develop small, medium businesses in Belarus till 2030 in development

MINSK (BelTA) – The Belarusian Economy Ministry is busy putting together a strategy designed to guide the development of small and medium businesses in Belarus till 2030, the Ministry's press service told BelTA.

The composition of the relevant working group has been approved. It will be led by Deputy Economy Minister Irina Kostevich. The group includes representatives of interested ministries and government agencies, the business community and the representative office of the International Finance Corporation in Belarus.

The strategy is supposed to determine priority avenues of development of small and medium businesses in Belarus in the medium term and the long term as well as ways to implement them. The strategy will also try to enable favorable conditions for the creation and operation of the business environment, the formation and implementation of target programs and action plans to develop SMEs, ways to ensure coordinated actions of various government agencies and SMEs.

The working group will have to put together the backbone of the strategy and flesh it out. Specialists of central government agencies, scientific institutions, associations of entrepreneurs and other organizations, international experts, who are not part of the working group, will be invited to contribute to the development of the strategy on small and medium business development in Belarus till 2030.
