Lukashenko welcomes positive changes in Belarusian-European relations

MINSK (BelTA) – We have seen some positive changes in the Belarusian-European relations, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with a delegation of the Political and Security Committee of the Council of the European Union on 21 November.

“Your visit and our meeting today once again testify to the positive changes in the Belarusian-European relations. Although many issues still remain,” the President said.

The President talked about the most important points of Belarus' policy which is based on the principles of multi-pronged cooperation, peace and good-neighborliness. “These points are particularly relevant given the contemporary situation, both at the global and regional levels. In recent years, the world has not become more stable. We have seen how the problems arising in one part of the world suddenly manifest themselves in another part,” he said.

Alexander Lukashenko underlined that the international context around Belarus has radically changed. The country turned out to be in the zone of direct clash of the divergent geopolitical interests of the world players. “In the light of these developments, we were able to maintain stability and order and show that Belarus is a sovereign state conducting well-balanced domestic and foreign policies,” the Belarusian leader noted.
