Security in spotlight of Lukashenko-Putin meeting

ST. PETERSBURG (BelTA) – The maintenance of security will be one of the main topics on the agenda of the meeting of the presidents of Belarus and Russia. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has made this statement, BelTA has learned.

“We cannot relax and should always stay on the lookout. Therefore, we must be prepared for everything. There are a lot of challenges in the world. We do not line in an isolated world. You and I understand it,” the President of Belarus said.

“This is one of the topics of our today's conversation, security is the main topic. We will discuss how we should live in this world, how to protect the interests of our people,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

“Certain issues always emerge in bilateral relations. But you know, against the backdrop of such events these problems fade away. We can solve such issues in a quick and effective way. If it's God's will, we will live in peace and will be able to ensure the security of our peoples,” the Belarusian leader said.

Speaking about the Belarusian-Russian agenda, Vladimir Putin stressed that this year the countries will make the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations. “Today we have an opportunity to discuss what was done in these years for the expansion of bilateral cooperation, what we have to do, what unsolved issues and problems we have,” the Russian leader said.
