Lukashenko approves convention on interregional cooperation of CIS countries

MINSK (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has approved the Convention on the Interregional Cooperation of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The President signed a corresponding decree on 6 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The convention was passed at the summit of the CIS leaders in Bishkek on 16 September 2016.

The document aims to enhance the importance of interregional cooperation in integration processes, bolster the ties between economic operators. The convention will help promote the free movement of people, capitals, goods and services.

The document also enumerates the avenues of interregional cooperation ranging from the creation of special economic zones and implementation of investment projects to the cultural, scientific, and humanitarian cooperation, tourism and sport.
