Belarus in favor of supranational security strategies
MINSK (BelTA) – Search for effective supranational security strategies is on the agenda. The statement was made by Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Belarus Ivan Noskevich during a joint session of the boards of the investigation committees of Armenia, Belarus, and Russia on 27 April.
Ivan Noskevich noted that modern threats, including transnational crime, gradually erase borders between international security, national security, and public security. “Search for effective supranational strategies for ensuring security is on the agenda. Such strategies are based on new ways of interaction between countries, adequate forms and methods of international cooperation, and cooperation of the national systems designed to counteract emerging threats. There are still reserves for tighter cooperation. An effective mechanism for interaction between investigators and their superiors has to be created primarily at the regional level,” said Ivan Noskevich. He thanked the chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the personal contribution to the advancement of cooperation between investigation agencies of the two countries.
The joint session of the boards of the investigation committees of Armenia, Belarus, and Russia took place in the Tauride Palace, Saint Petersburg. Apart from investigation committee officials Presiding Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation Valery Zorkin took part in the session as well as Saint Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko, Secretary General of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Council Alexei Sergeyev, and other guests.
Participants of the session discussed peculiarities of national laws on international cooperation in legal affairs, the practice of requesting legal aid and assistance, ways to improve cooperation in this sphere, and cooperation in science and education.
