Vologda Oblast invited to set up joint ventures with Belarus

MINSK (BelTA) – Belarus and Vologda Oblast can set up new joint ventures in the best interests of the entire Russia, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with Governor of Russia's Vologda Oblast Oleg Kuvshinnikov on 5 June, BelTA informs.

“We are ready to work together if you are interested in it. I think we have good experience. We can set up not only joint ventures but also start production facilities that Volodga Oblast as well as the entire Russia and Belarus will need. Therefore, it is very good that you have come to Belarus at this time,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

According to the president, Belarus and Volodga Oblast can implement successful manufacturing and agricultural projects. “I have been informed about Volodga Oblast's interest in the cooperation with Belarus. I think there can be successful projects, especially at the premises of the metalworking plant where we already produce certain joint equipment. I am aware of your projects, I know that you want to reach new heights in food production,” the head of state said.

Oleg Kuvshinnikov said that his region has a number of proposals that are discussed with the biggest Belarusian enterprises. “The talks are in progress. We have made big progress in the joint production of tractors. More than 6,500 tractors have been jointly made in Volodga Oblast. One third of all wheeled tractors in Russia are now produced in Cherepovets, this is a joint enterprise,” the governor said.

The delegation of Volodga Oblast is paying a visit to Belarus on 4-6 June. There was a session of the joint commission for the development of cooperation. Representatives of the Russian region familiarized themselves with the operation of Minsk Tractor Works and its lineup.

The delegation of Vologda Oblast also plans to hold talks with Belarus' Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov, visit other industrial enterprises, attend the opening of the international specialized exposition Belagro 2018 and the Healthy Towns conference which is held by the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry.

In January-March 2018 the trade turnover of Belarus and Vologda Oblast went up 11.1% to exceed $93 million over the same period of the previous year.

Belarus exports tractors and tractor units, milk and cream, freight vehicles, potash fertilizers, liquid crystal devices, lasers, parts and units for cars and tractors to Vologda Oblast. Major imports are flat-rolled products, mixed mineral fertilizers, pipes and other metal products.

A plant to produce Belarusian tractors has been established at the premises of the Cherepovets casting and mechanical plant, there is a subject of the MTZ commodity distribution network in Vologda Oblast and a broad dealer network for Belarusian machine-building enterprises.
