Kobyakov: Belarus-China relations are based on mutual respect and equality

MINSK (BelTA) – Belarus-China relations are based on mutual respect and equality, Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov said as met with Vice President of the People's Republic of China Wang Qishan, BelTA has learnt.

Wang Qishan is on his first official visit to Belarus on 27-29 May. Upon his arrival at the National Airport Minsk on 27 May he was welcomed by Andrei Kobyakov. The talks were held right away.

Addressing China's vice president, Andrei Kobyakov noted: “We are glad to welcome a good and time-tested friend of the Belarusian nation. Your visit to Belarus (first official foreign visit of Wang Qishan after his appointment – BelTA's note) is highly appreciated and is perceived is an additional good sign of the commitment of the Chinese government to expanding relations with Belarus. We want Belarus-China relations not only to grow stronger, but also to serve as an example to other countries: these are relations based on good neighborliness, mutual respect and equality”.

The Belarusian premier also noted that the Belarusian society fully understands Xi Jinping's vision of the Community of Common Destiny. This concept is underpinned by social justice and equal development opportunities for countries.

Wang Qishan thanked Andrei Kobyakov for a warm welcome. He added: “China's President Xi Jinping attaches great significance to the relations with Belarus”.

Vice President of the People's Republic of China Wang Qishan will stay in Belarus till 29 May. Andrei Kobyakov and Wang Qishan are scheduled to hold official talks in an extended format. Wang Qishan is also set to visit the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone and the Belarusian State University.
