BPC may sell Russia-made fertilisers other than potash ones
Belarusian Potash Company (BPC) is considering the possibility of selling Russia-made fertilisers other than potash ones, Mikhail Osipenko, Belneftekhim Concern Deputy President, told a press conference on August 26.
“We are considering proposals of several Russian companies, which produce fertilisers other than potash ones and are ready to cooperate with the BPC,” he said. The cooperation will be aimed at the fuller loading of ships and increasing the range of shipped fertilisers.
“Initially we are supposed to work like that but later an increase in the number of stockholders of Belarusian Potash Company may be considered,” said the source. He added the reliability of the new partners should be tested first. All producers of potash fertilisers have their own distribution networks. “At present no applications from potash fertiliser producers for becoming a shareholder have been filed,” said Mikhail Osipenko.
In turn, Belaruskali Director General Andrei Bashura said, a recent addition of Belarusian Railways to the number of BPC shareholders is viewed positively as the BPC is very tightly connected with railway transport. “It is necessary to increase the rolling stock. We have 2,000 railway cars but the number is insufficient. This is why we decided to work together with the railway company,” he explained. The BPC is also purchasing more railway cars.
Andrei Bashura noted, “At present the BPC has enough shareholders”.
Today shares of Belarusian Potash Fertilisers are distributed between Uralkali (50%), Belaruskali (45%), and Belarusian Railways (5%). |
