Lukashenko, Yushchenko to review past three years of cooperation
KIEV, 5 November (BelTA) – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and his Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yushchenko are set to review the results achieved over the past three years of bilateral cooperation. The statement was made by the Belarusian leader in a one-on-one meeting with the Ukrainian President in Kiev on 5 November.
“As our states were getting stronger, truly independent, sovereign, difficulties would arise. We had to address them the time they arose,” Alexander Lukashenko said. “We agreed to meet and sum up everything we had been able to do over the past three years,” the President added.
Alexander Lukashenko noted that much time has passed since his last official visit to Ukraine. That does not mean, however, that period was a standstill, he stressed. Over the past three years the two countries have worked hard to regulate all the issues regarding the mutual relations. “We have met with you many times. We have never had any conflicts and disagreements,” Alexander Lukashenko said addressing Viktor Yushchenko.
The Belarusian President assured the Ukrainian side they would not have any problems with Belarusians. “All the issues will be addressed for the benefit of the two nations as our interests coincide,” Alexander Lukashenko underlined adding that all possible support to the bilateral relations would be provided in the international arena as well. “We are not friends against someone. We only wish our people to be well and friendly,” the President of Belarus noted. |
