Documents on Belarus-Russia cooperation signed during 3rd Congress of Free Economic Zones in Gomel

GOMEL ( BelTA) – Three documents on cooperation were signed by Belarusian and Russian partners on the sidelines of the 3rd Congress of Free Economic Zones, which is taking place in Gomel on 23-24 March, BelTA has learned.

The free economic zone (FEZ) Gomel-Raton and the Russian special economic zone of the industrial and manufacturing type Moglino signed a memorandum of cooperation. The FEZ Mogilev administration signed an agreement with SEZ Moglino.

Apart from that, the republican unitary service enterprise Agency for the Development and Facilitation of Investments and St. Petersburg's OAO Technopark stipulated partnership aspects in a memorandum of cooperation. The agency's Director Andrei Bobovich said that in line with the document resident companies of the Gomel-based technopark Korall will be able to participate in programs, which take place in the St. Petersburg-based technopark. “Now we will be equal partners during the organization of tenders. Our resident companies will get access to funding at the expense of Leningrad Oblast and St. Petersburg,” the director clarified.

According to Andrei Bobovich, Belarusian companies will be able to fill the Russian market niche vacated by foreign companies, particularly in the area of microelectronics and information technologies. “We have plans for exchanges of not only resident companies. Our children's technopark is expected to participate in programs organized under the aegis of the St. Petersburg-based technopark,” the official added.

The 3rd Congress of Free Economic Zones is taking place in Gomel on 23-24 March. The forum is focused on free economic zones, industrial and R&D parks as drivers of territorial development. Over 250 people have confirmed their participation in the congress. They are representatives of free economic zones, industrial, scientific, and technological parks from Belarus, Russia, and Uzbekistan as well as representatives of the Belarusian Economy Ministry, the Gomel Oblast administration, the Gomel city administration, heads of the companies residing in FEZ Gomel-Raton.
