Law on counteracting trafficking in human beings signed

On 7 January 2012 the President of the Republic of Belarus signed the Law on counteracting trafficking in human beings. The Law determines organizational and legal basis for counteracting of trafficking in human beings and sets forth measures for protecting and rehabilitating victims of trafficking in human beings.
The Law defines exploitation of the prostitution or creation of conditions for prostitution, recruitment for the prostitution or coercion to continue prostitution, use of slavery, abduction of a human being, illegal actions directed at employment of citizens abroad, production and dissemination of pornographic materials containing images of persons under eighteen years of age as crimes related to trafficking in human beings.
The Law enters into force in six months after its official publication.
