Belarus’ resolution on UN Global Plan of Action adopted in Vienna

The resolution of the Republic of Belarus on the implementation of the UN Global Plan of Action Against Trafficking in Persons was adopted in Vienna on 26 April.

The document was approved at the 22nd meeting of the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. The resolution was suggested by Belarus as part of the implementation of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko's initiative to coordinate international efforts against human trafficking. The resolution calls for active efforts to continue the implementation of Belarus-initiated UN Global Plan of Action Against Trafficking in Persons.

The resolution draws attention of the international community to the necessity of combating human trafficking for organ, tissue and cell trade. The Belarusian resolution is coauthored by a wide range of countries. It means a strong support of the efforts the country takes at the intentional level to fight against trafficking in human beings.
