President approves stricter measures against drug trafficking

On 28 December 2014 the President of the Republic of Belarus adopted Decree No 6 “On urgent measures for counteracting illegal circulation of drugs”. According to the Decree the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus shall, within a three month period, develop and approve an arrangements plan aimed at counteracting the illegal circulation of drugs and preventing their use, in particular among teenagers. The Decree also introduces harsher penalties for those involved in illegal circulation of drugs.

The Decree was officially published on the National Legal Internet Portal of the Republic of Belarus on 29 December 2014 and enters into force from 1 January 2015.
