Lukashenko: People's achievements shape Belarus' history

MINSK (BelTA) - People's successes and achievements shape the history of the country, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he attended a ceremony to present state awards on 27 June, BelTA has learned.

“We are meeting in the run-up to the celebration of our main national holiday, Independence Day. I am delighted to see you, talented, hardworking and committed professionals, the people whose successes and achievements shape the history of the country, unite the nation in the pride for their fellow citizens, develop the image of a strong, successful, creative and beautiful country,” the head of state said.

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, Belarus is marking the 75th anniversary of its liberation from the Nazis this year. “Remembering the great deed of the winning nation that gave us the future we understand our full responsibility for the future of our children and grandchildren. We should live every day with an important goal in mind, which is to protect the peace, for which the lives were sacrificed during the years of the Great Patriotic War, and to keep the traditions of the postwar generation. These traditions are continued in our successes and achievements,” the head of state said.

Representatives of different professions are present at today's meeting, the president said. They are all united by a sincere desire to work for the benefit of Belarus. The head of state thanked members of the law-enforcement bodies, security services, and internationalist soldiers for their devotion to duty, for bravery and courage in the line of duty. “Your patriotism is the best example for the younger generation,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

“We are also honoring our agrarians for their achievements in the past year. Let this year, despite the complicated weather conditions, be fruitful and help strengthen our food security. Thank you for your dedication and hard work,” the president said.

Among the awardees were workers of the healthcare, science and education sectors, and also representatives of Belavia, Belaruskali, MAPID, Marko, the true Belarusian brands, well-known far beyond the country's borders.

High awards were bestowed upon outstanding figures of culture and art. “You make our life more interesting and spiritually richer,” the president said. In his words, this was demonstrated at the opening ceremony of the 2nd European Games,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

“Attending the meeting today are also athletes and coaches, the most popular people in the country today. We have seen a lot of great victories at the 2nd European Games. We are proud of our fellow citizens and are waiting for their new successes,” the head of state said.

According to the president, everyone's achievements, diligence and discipline are the main conditions for the country's economic security, its independence. Aleksandr Lukashenko presented state awards and thanked everyone for their dedication, responsible attitude and high results in the professional activity.

The awardees were also taken on a tour of the Palace of Independence.
