Framework for implementation of 28 Union State programs changed

BelTA) – The Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State has changed the framework to ensure the implementation of 28 programs approved by the Supreme State Council of the Union State. The decision was taken at the second meeting of the 61st session of the Parliamentary Assembly in Moscow on 23 December, BelTA has learned.
Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus on International Affairs Andrei Savinykh said that a working group was set up at the first session held in Minsk on 2 December to improve the framework of the Parliamentary Assembly. “The working group has worked out a number of proposals to improve the framework. First of all, they proceeded from the need to ensure legislative implementation of the Decree of the Supreme State Council of the Union State “On the main directions of implementation of the Union State Treaty for 2021–2023” of 4 December, and also the need to promptly engage Union State MPs in the process of implementing 28 approved programs. The need to redistribute the workload between the commissions of the Parliamentary Assembly was also taken into account,” he said.
A decision was made to increase the number of commissions of the Parliamentary Assembly from eight to 12. The functions of the Commission on Social and Youth Policy, Science, Culture and Humanitarian Affairs were distributed among three new commissions: on labor, social policy and healthcare; on culture, science and education; on youth policy, sports and tourism. The Economic Policy Commission was divided into two commissions: on economic policy, industry and trade; and on energy and transport. A new Commission on Agrarian Issues was set up. The names of other commissions of the Parliamentary Assembly were specified and their spheres of responsibility were redistributed between them.
The deputy chairpersons of the Parliamentary Assembly were also authorized to supervise the committees according to the distribution of responsibilities.
