CIS plan of action in statistics for 2024–2025 approved

MINSK ( BelTA) – Heads of the statistical services of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states approved the plan of action for 2024–2025 during the 68th meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Statistical Services. Belarus was represented by Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee (Belstat) Inna Medvedeva, BelTA learned from Belstat.

The heads of the statistical services approved the work program of the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee for 2024 and the Council's performance report in 2020–2023.

The parties also discussed and approved the work plan for 2024–2025 on the realization of the Development of CIS Statistics project financed by the Russian government. The representatives of national statistical services were briefed about the planned activities on additional professional education and advanced training within the framework of the project.

In addition, the Council approved the organization of statistical quiz in the CIS countries in 2024. Such an event is believed to stimulate interest in the national statistical services and their positive image, to deepen the knowledge about the CIS and about its member states, to promote statistical literacy of the population.

During the meeting Inna Medvedeva informed the participants about the launch of two new information resources by Belstat: Geostatistics and Regional Data Platform on Sustainable Development, embodying innovative approaches to the provision of official statistical information. If there is interest Inna Medvedeva expressed readiness to organize a seminar on these resources.
