Andreichenko: Kazakhstan remains a reliable partner for Belarus

BelTA) – Kazakhstan has always been and remains a reliable partner for Belarus, Chairman of the House of Representatives, the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament, Vladimir Andreichenko said as he met with Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Koshanov, BelTA has learned.
Vladimir Andreichenko congratulated his counterpart on the great work to conduct the parliamentary elections and wished him many successes. Belarusian MPs took part in monitoring the elections and arrived at the conclusion that it was held at a high organizational level.
“Kazakhstan has always been and remains a reliable partner for Belarus. We are determined to develop our relations in the spirit of friendship, mutual understanding and cooperation. Belarus is interested in this, and inter-parliamentary contacts play an important role in this,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.
The chairman of the House of Representatives cherishes the memories of his visits to Kazakhstan. He thanked the previous head of the Belarus-Kazakhstan Friendship Group for his significant contribution to cooperation, and expressed the hope that his successor in the Mazhilis will keep it up.
According to Vladimir Andreichenko, we are living in a difficult time: the special operation in Ukraine is going on, ungrounded sanctions have been introduced. He hopes that the policy of Western states will not affect Belarus-Kazakhstan cooperation in economy, education, healthcare, culture and science. Vladimir Andreichenko added that there are plans to hold a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in Belarus in autumn (it was held in Astana last year).
Yerlan Koshanov thanked Vladimir Andreichenko for the congratulations and noted that he was glad to see him. He arrived in Belarus to participate in an off-site meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. The meeting with Vladimir Andreichenko was centered around plans to intensify Belarus-Kazakhstan parliamentary dialogue.
Belarus-Kazakhstan inter-parliamentary cooperation is governed by cooperation agreements between the Council of the Republic and the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan (signed in Astana on 23 April 2013) and between the House of Representatives and the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan (signed in Astana on 16 June 2015). A Belarus-Kazakhstan inter-parliamentary working group has been set up at the National Assembly of Belarus. It is headed by Svetlana Lyubetskaya, Chairwoman of the Standing Committee on Legislation of the House of Representatives. The Mazhilis is now busy putting together a new cooperation group. Belarus and Kazakhstan exchange visits of senior members the parliaments.
