Belarus, China discuss cooperation in customs matters

MINSK ( BelTA) – Minsk has hosted the third meeting of the Commission on Customs and Quarantine Cooperation of the Belarus-China Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee. The participants of the meeting discussed 11 issues and signed a number of bilateral documents, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Customs Committee.

Taking part in the event were delegations of Belarus' State Customs Committee headed by Chairman Vladimir Orlovsky, the Agriculture and Food Ministry headed by Minister Sergei Bartosh, as well as the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China headed by Deputy Head Lu Weihong.

“The representatives of the customs administrations reviewed progress to implement a program to ensure safe movement and expedited customs clearance during rail transportation, exchanged the experience of using navigation seals (smart locks) in international cargo transportation, explored the possibility of training Belarusian specialists to work with inspection equipment. The parties took decisions related to quarantine and phytosanitary cooperation and approved a plan for joint work on certification of products of animal origin and a protocol on inspection, quarantine and veterinary and sanitary requirements for bee honey supplied from Belarus to the PRC,” the State Customs Committee said.

A protocol of the commission was signed as a result of the meeting.

The Commission on Customs and Quarantine Cooperation is a practical tool to address issues, set new goals and objectives to promote strategic partnership between the two states. The results of the talks will lay a solid foundation for strengthening a professional dialogue.
