Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan to adopt important decisions on EEC, SES

MOSCOW, 19 December (BelTA) - The Presidents of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan intend to adopt some important decisions regarding the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) and generally on the Single Economic Space (SES), President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev said while opening a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council at the level of the heads of state in the Kremlin on 19 December.

Dmitry Medvedev said that Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan have advanced significantly farther than the Eurasian Economic Community, but the format of “the five” will continue to be given serious attention.

It is the first time that the three presidents have met in a new format – a session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council that replaced the Supreme Body of the Customs Union within the framework of the EurAsEC Interstate Council. The presidents will first hold a one-on-one meeting, then an extended meeting. The heads of state will also take part in the EurAsEC Interstate Council session. This association unites Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Moreover, attending the meeting of the EurAsEC Interstate Council will be the President of Armenia.
