Union State hailed as important contributor to new integration associations

MOSCOW, 21 November (BelTA) - The Union State of Belarus and Russia has played an important role in the formation of new promising integration associations among former Soviet Union states, Speaker of the State Duma, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State Boris Gryzlov said when speaking in Moscow at 40th session of the Parliamentary Assembly.

“The things that have been tested in the Union State are successfully applied in other organizations. The Customs Union and the single economic space have become a reality. The Eurasian Economic Union is in the pipeline,” Boris Gryzlov said.

Boris Gryzlov emphasized that the Parliamentary Assembly remains a team of like-minded people. “The Union State MPs have contributed a lot into addressing common for Belarus and Russia issues,” he said.

One of the essential instruments for Belarus-Russia successful economic integration is joint programs and projects which implementation takes more than 90% of the Union State budget. Today’s priority programs include development of progressive science, equipment and technologies. “The recent events have increased our confidence that the Union State integration potential serve the hopes of the people favoring unification,” Boris Gryzlov said.
