Belarus to set quotas for domestically sold tobacco products

MINSK, 17 April (BelTA) – Belarus will introduce quotas for domestic tobacco products sold within the country. Belarus President approved Decree No.5 to amend Decree No.28 “Concerning the state regulation of the production, sale and consumption of tobacco products” of 17 December 2002, BelTA learnt from the presidential press service.

The document envisages quotas for tobacco products sold within the country. As for the export of tobacco products, the process will not be regulated due to its high importance for the economy of tobacco factories and positive impact on the stability of the exchange rate of the Belarusian currency.

According to the press service, the decree does not entail additional budget expenditure and will help promote the export potential of the domestic tobacco producers.
