China opens $16bn credit lines for Belarus
MINSK, 5 April (BelTA) – China has opened $16 billion credit lines for Belarus to implement joint projects, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Anatoly Rubinov said as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Gong Jianwei in Minsk on 5 April, BelTA has learnt.
“For us China is a very close and brotherly country with which we have established friendly relations and economic cooperation,” the Speaker said.
Anatoly Rubinov noted that the two countries have established strategic partnership for a reason. In his view, the history of Belarus and China is somewhat similar. The two peoples have overcome a lot and have achieved a lot thanks to their hard work and perseverance. Besides, the leaders of the two countries have developed confidential and cordial relations, which is also crucial for promoting friendship between the states.
The high level of Belarus-China political relations is a solid foundation for dynamic growth in the bilateral trade.
At present Belarus and China are successfully implementing joint projects. “We appreciate China’s decision to grant loans to our country. At present, the amount of loans is estimated at $16 billion. The money is bringing profit,” Anatoly Rubinov underlined.
He noted that cultural and academic ties are also important for expanding the bilateral relations.
Gong Jianwei, in turn, noted that the relations between the two countries have reached a very high level. At the start of the year Belarus and China marked the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations. A variety of events will be held across Belarus to mark the date. Among them are the Days of Belarusian Culture in China.
According to the diplomat, at present the two countries need to step up regional cooperation between cities, towns and provinces.
Talking about the nearest joint projects, the Chinese ambassador informed that China is completing the preparation of documents on the construction of the Belarus-China Industrial Park that will be built in the southwestern part of Smolevichi District.
Besides, the diplomat informed that this year Harbin will play host to the 23rd international fair. The invitation to take part in the forum has already been sent to Belarus.
