Gerasimenya claims silver at London 2012

MINSK, 3 August (BelTA) – Aleksandra Gerasimenya won the women’s 100m freestyle silver in London on 2 August, BelTA has learnt.

Ranomi Kromowidjojo clinched gold clocking an Olympic record of 53.00 seconds. Aleksandra Gerasimenya swam the distance in 53.38 seconds. China’s Tang Yi touched the wall in third place (53.44).

Aleksandra Gerasimenya is the 2011 World 100m Freestyle Champion. She has so far won 50m backstroke silver at the 2007 World Championships, 50m backstroke gold at the 2010 European championships, 100m freestyle silver at the 2010 European Championships, 50m backstroke silver at the 2006 European Championships, and bronze at the 2002 European Championships.
