Lukashenko made familiar with research center in BSUIR

MINSK, 21 December (BelTA) – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko was made familiar with the joint training and research center BSUIR-INTES – Intellectual Technologies and Systems on 21 December. The head of state started his visit to the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics with a tour of the training and research center, BelTA has learned.

The Belarus President was informed about the state and prospects of the university’s development. In the last few years the material and technical support available to the university that trains students in 36 professions has improved considerably. BSUIR Rector Mr Mikhail Batura said that modern technologies had been assimilated to enable better quality of learning.

Good ties have been established recently between the university and the production sector as per instructions of the President. Many BSUIR research products are implemented by the production sector, work is in progress to optimize the training time. According to the BSUIR Rector, specialists can be trained within four years instead of five years.

The Belarus President met with students and professors of the Computer Systems and Networks Department of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics. The department is one of the leading departments in Belarus that trains IT specialists. The department has 11 training and research labs created in associations with the companies IBA, EPAM, Itransition and other ones. As many as six chairs and four international education centers operate as part of the department.

According to the year 2010 poll of Hi-Tech Park resident companies, the Computer Systems and Networks Department of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics is the number one department in the top ten departments of Belarusian universities, which graduates are sought after by the Hi-Tech Park.
