Lukashenko: Woodworking enterprises must fulfill decree No. 9

MINSK, 13 December (BelTA) – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that decree No. 9 on additional measures to develop the woodworking industry must be fulfilled unconditionally by woodworking enterprises. Alexander Lukashenko made the relevant statement as he visited the woodworking company OAO Mogilevdrev on 13 December, BelTA has learned.

“Use iron fists to take control of everything and act,” demanded Alexander Lukashenko.

According to the President, the main purpose of the decree is to make the director of an enterprise “the boss the way it is in the West and to make all the workers and specialists do their best”.

Alexander Lukashenko was interested in whether the drain of workforce had stopped. “Keep in mind they cannot quit without your authorization. Those, who quit, will have to do forced labor here,” Alexander Lukashenko told the OAO Mogilevdrev management.

The head of state also reminded that the management has to raise salaries for workers. The average salary has to reach $450-500 in Q1 2013. “If we force people to work here, we have to give them sweets, too,” stressed the President.

Alexander Lukashenko explained that the decisions specified by the decree had been necessitated by the fact that the woodworking enterprises had failed to hit modernization program targets, with losses caused. “This year and next year you have to work hard. You have to do what you have failed to do in the five years,” added the head of state.
