Myasnikovich: Belarus-Russia relations are stable, gaining pace

MOSCOW, 12 December (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia have built up stable trade and economic relations that continue gaining pace, Belarusian Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich said as he met with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow on 12 December.

Mikhail Myasnikovich noted that regional relations make a big contribution to bilateral cooperation. In his words, 11 delegations from Russian regions have paid visits to Belarus this year.

According to the Belarusian premier, the creation of the Customs Union has boosted development of Belarusian-Russian joint companies. Today in Belarus there are 2,117 Russian-funded and joint ventures. This accounts for 35% of all registered business entities in the country with foreign capital.

"If there are problems, certain constraints, they are addressed during bilateral meetings, including the meetings of the Council of Ministers of the Union State,” said Mikhail Myasnikovich.

"This is a reason why we meet. There are no insurmountable problems,” said the Russian Prime Minister.

The meeting of the heads of government precedes the session of the Council of Ministers of the Union State.
