Tyumen region to buy 50 MAZ buses

MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) – Russia’s Tyumen Oblast is planning to buy 50 buses of Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ), BelTA learnt from Honorary Consul of Belarus to Tyumen Oblast Vladimir Shuglya. He is currently in Minsk together with chief executives of two Tyumen companies, namely Sibir Trailer and Tumenavtotrans on 27-29 February.

The sides plan to hold negotiations to discuss the terms of bus supplies to Tyumen and to consider a possibility of setting up joint ventures to assemble MAZ trucks and trailers.

Vladimir Shuglya said that 41 Belarusian buses operate Tyumen. A special maintenance center has been set up. “We intend to develop this promising cooperation,” said Vladimir Shuglya.

Minsk Automobile Plant was created in 1944. It was reincorporated into an open joint stock company in 2009. The company produces truck tractors, high-sided trucks, medium-capacity automobiles, dump trucks, log trucks, short log trucks, cross-country vehicles, automobiles fit for special equipment as well as buses and trolleybuses. MAZ offers over 500 models and modifications of automobiles, 15 basic models of passenger vehicles.
