Share of local fuels up to 23.3% in Belarus in 2011

MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) - According to preliminary data, in 2011 Belarus increased the share of local fuels in the boiler and furnace oil consumption mix up to 23.2%, which was above the target of 22.2%, BelTA learnt from Zhanna Zenkovich, the chief of the department for organizational and legal work and relations with media at the Energy Efficiency Department of the State Service for Standardization. At the regional level the target was met by Vitebsk, Gomel and Minsk Oblasts. All regions increased the share of local fuel as compared with 2010.

In the course of implementation of regional energy conservation programs, 89 boilers with the total capacity of 157.4MW were commissioned across the country in 2011, including 62 boilers with the capacity of 87.6MW in the housing and utilities sector.

The state program for construction of energy facilities running on local fuels in 2010-2015 envisaged the commissioning of 35 facilities on local fuels with the total capacity of 146.58MW in 2011. In 2011 some 34 facilities were built to produce 146.58MW of energy.

Electro-generating equipment of the total electrical capacity of 629.2MW, including 54MW isolated generating plants, were constructed in 2011.
