Oil production in Belarus down 1.1% in 2011

MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – Last year oil production in Belarus fell 1.1% as compared with 2010 to 1,681,500 tonnes, BelTA learnt from the National Statistics Committee.

The country produced 140,500 tonnes of oil in December, down 1.8% over December 2010 and up 2.5% from November 2011.

Natural gas extraction in the country grew 4.3% to 222.3 million cubic meters last year. December gas production reached 21.6 million cubic meters, up 29% over December 2010 and up 14.8% from November 2011.

Production of fuel briquettes made up 1,364,500 tonnes, up 3.6%. In December 2011 the country produced 128,200 tonnes of fuel briquettes, up 1.8% from December 2010 and down 1.4% from November 2011.

On the whole the production of fuel and energy resources in last year reduced by 0.9% over 2010.
