Lukashenko believes situation in Syria will be stabilized

MINSK, 16 January (BelTA) – The situation in Syria will get stable, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Syria to Belarus Faruq Taha on 16 January. Faruq Taha’s diplomatic mission in Belarus is about to end, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko remarked that at the end of one’s diplomatic mission he meets only with ambassadors, who are friends of Belarus. “It is always a bit sad to part with friends. Moreover, in view of the situation your country is in. Because it adds some uncertainty,” said the President.

“But you should know that Belarus is not a stranger country for you. You can come here any time you need to,” the Belarusian head of state told the diplomat.

The President of Belarus also said he was confident the situation in Syria will be stabilized. “I want the situation in your country to get stable. I am sure it will happen one of these days. But I would like the future stability in Syria to help improve our relations,” said the Belarusian head of state.

Alexander Lukashenko asked to deliver his warmest words of support to Syria’s leadership. “People in Belarus would very much like the situation to turn out well. I am confident it will happen,” added the President.

In turn, the Ambassador of Syria underscored the potential of Belarus-Syria relations is huge and said he hopes the cooperation would be fruitful in the future.
