Chinese biotechnology company interested in cooperation with Belarus

MINSK, 16 July (BelTA) - The National Center for Technology Transfer of Belarus and the Harbin biotechnology company Aijia signed a protocol of intent to establish cooperation, BelTA learnt from the director of the center Alexander Uspensky.

The document was signed during the China Harbin International Economic and Trade Fair (Harbin Trade Fair) in June 2012. “In line with the protocol, we will provide assistance in concluding contracts with Belarusian scholars. In particular, the Chinese company is interested in solutions of the Institute of Microbiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB),” Alexander Uspensky said.

The National Center for Technology Transfer also held negotiations with a Chinese-Canadian company that manufactures equipment for high-speed rolling stock. The representatives of the company took interest in cooperation with the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the NASB.

Besides, the National Center for Technology Transfer of Belarus signed an R&D cooperation agreement with the Institute of High Technology of the Academy of Sciences of Heilongjiang Province. The parties have plans to develop mechanisms for a Belarus-China IT platform for collective use. “We are seeking to translate information about our solutions not only into English but also into Chinese. The agreement is designed to let the Chinese partners upload their databases to our web portal,” the director of the center noted.

During the Harbin expo the center signed 15 protocols of intent with Chinese scientific institutions and companies. These documents will facilitate contacts between Belarus’ scholars and Chinese businessmen, contribute to new joint projects and strengthen export potential.

The center promotes Belarus’ innovations and helps them meet potential buyers. The center has branches in Minsk, Brest, Mogilev, Gomel, Grodno and other towns. The center cooperates with enterprises and organizations from over 20 countries, with over 50 cooperation agreements signed.
