Lukashenko: Labor productivity growth underpins economic progress

MINSK, 11 July (BelTA) – Labor productivity growth is the foundation for quality improvement of the economic situation of the country and well-being of people, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said as he presented state awards to distinguished Belarusians, BelTA has learnt.

Addressing the attendees, the head of state emphasized that the achievements of each of them multiply tangible and intangible wealth of the Fatherland. Alexander Lukashenko expressed his appreciation to representatives of the manufacturing industry that is demonstrating good progress this year – over 7% of production growth compared with last year. “The main thing is that labor productivity rose by 10%. This is the foundation for quality improvement of the economic situation of the country and well-being of people. When labor productivity increases, people’s income rises, too. It is important that labor collectives of machine-building companies are in the vanguard of these positive trends,” the President said.

The head of state congratulated Amkodor employees on the awards they received for contribution to the development of domestic machine production industry. “This company successfully implements the major socioeconomic development targets. The company is expanding exports and ensuring a trade surplus,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The medals “For Labor Achievements” were bestowed upon workers of Mogilevtransmash affiliated with Minsk Automobile Plant.

“Not only machine producers, but also everyone in attendance has a lot to be proud of. This is clearly seen in your work achievements. Future belongs to such large farms,” the President noted.

The state awards were also presented to a large group of executives of regional branches of the Belarusian Association of Veterans. The organization recently celebrated the 25th anniversary since founding. “It is one of the main pillars of our civil society.
