Delegation of Belarus’ Foreign Ministry to visit Slovenia 9-11 July

MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) – A delegation of Belarus’ Foreign Ministry headed by Deputy Minister Yelena Kupchina will visit Slovenia. The visit, at the invitation of the Slovenian side, will run from 9 to 11 July, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.

"The visit of the Belarusian delegation to Ljubljana is timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Slovenia," the Foreign Ministry said.

The Belarusian delegation is scheduled to have meetings in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia to discuss a range of issues of bilateral cooperation and Minsk-Brussels dialogue. Talks are planned with representatives of the Slovenian business to expand economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.

On 10 July Ljubljana will host a reception on the occasion of the Independence Day of Belarus and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Foreign Ministry added that in 2011, trade between Belarus and Slovenia amounted to $78.8 million (accounting for 98.2% as against 2010). The Belarusian exports made up $11.4 million (up 29.4%), imports $67.4 million (accounting for 94.4%). In January-May this year Belarusian-Slovenian trade totaled $33.8 million (up 11.7% over the same period 2011). Belarusian exports amounted to $5.7 million (up 24.2%), imports made up $28.1million (up 9.4%).

“Currently, Belarus and Slovenia are working successfully on major projects in energy, industrial, construction and humanitarian areas,” the Foreign Ministry added.
