Belarus attends UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS Executive Board session

MINSK, 5 July (BelTA) – Belarus took part in the annual session of the Executive Board of the UN Development Program/ United Nations Population Fund/United Nations Office for Project Services (UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS), BelTA learnt from the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.

The Belarusian delegation was led by head of the main department for multilateral diplomacy of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Belarus Yuri Ambrazevich.

The session focused on the UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS activities in 2011, defined the main areas of work in the near future and adopted a number of country programs including for Moldova, Malaysia, India, Guinea, Lesotho, Mauritania, Jordan, Syria and other countries.

In October 2010 UNDP approved and launched a framework program for Belarus in 2011-2015. It is the first joint strategy of the UN agencies operating in Belarus and prepared in cooperation with the government of the Republic of Belarus. The program supports the country’s national priorities and promotes fulfillment of the Millennium Development Goals.
