Belarus to partake in Venezuela’s cosmodrome project

MINSK, 4 July (BelTA) – Belarus will take part in the construction of a space airfield in Venezuela, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Venezuela to Belarus Americo Dias Nunez told media on 4 July.

The cosmodrome will be located in Aragua State.

According to the diplomat, the space airfield is meant for research satellites.

China produces satellites for Venezuela. Venezuela has also reached an agreement to assemble them inside the country.

The Ambassador emphasized that this is a trilateral project: Belarus provides technologies, China sponsors the project.

The diplomat took note of the implementation of another trilateral project in Venezuela: the construction of a CHP plant with the participation of Belarusian specialists and Chinese capital. The project is estimated at $900 million. The CHP plant will be built in the Santa Ines industrial zone of Barinas by 2015.

“These examples show how international cooperation is developing,” the Ambassador said. He added that in the forthcoming three years Belarus is expected to partake in many projects of Venezuela.
