Naryshkin to visit Belarus in June

MINSK, 1 June (BelTA) - Speaker of the Russian State Duma Sergei Naryshkin is set to pay a visit to Belarus in the second half of June, BelTA learnt from the Embassy of Russia in Minsk.

The embassy stressed that Belarus and Russia are marking the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations on 25 June.

June promises to be an eventful month for Belarus. Russian President Vladimir Putin who is currently in Belarus will complete his visit on 1 June. During the talks on 31 May the two leaders confirmed the importance of their strategic cooperation.

Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko will pay an official visit to Minsk on 4-5 June. Valentina Matviyenko is set to meet with Belarus’ top officials, including President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. The Chairperson of the Federation Council will also hold talks with Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Anatoly Rubinov. The parties are expected to sign a cooperation agreement between the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
