Kazakhstan interested in Belarus’ privatization program

MINSK, 10 May (BelTA) – Kazakhstan is interested to partake in the Belarusian privatization program, Chairman of the Board of the Kazakhstan National Welfare Fund Samruk Kazyna Umirzak Shukeyev said as he met with Belarus Vice Premier Sergei Rumas on 10 May.

“We are interested in equity participation in the whole range of economic sectors of Belarus,” Umirzak Shukeyev said. He asked to discuss this issue in detail.

Sergei Rumas, in his turn, suggested looking into the potential of bilateral cooperation in several areas. One of them is transport and logistics. The Vice Premier stated that Belarus is at the crossroad of the largest international transport corridors. “It will enable us to develop cooperation in transport on a parity basis,” he noted.

Belarus has launched a logistics system development program, and many countries, including neighboring ones, are engaged in logistics centers projects here taking into account the capacity of the Single Economic Space.

Kazakhstan is interested in establishing in Belarus an advanced terminal for transshipment and storage of grain on its way to European consumers. “If there are specific proposals, Belarus is ready to consider them, allocate land and do everything necessary to ensure that the terminal should be created,” Sergei Rumas said.

The Vice Premier also added that Belarus is interested in Kazakh experience in conducting IPOs for retail investors. “We carefully monitor this information, because this is interesting for us. We are interested in your experience in this field given that you are going to IPO large companies and conduct a very competent information campaign,” he said.

During the negotiations the sides discussed the conditions for the development of trade and economic relations between Belarus and Kazakhstan, and the prospects of industrial cooperation of the two countries.
