Belarus, Czech Republic to implement over 40 joint projects
MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – Belarus and the Czech Republic intend to implement more than 40 joint projects, Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Alexander Guryanov said after the meeting of the Belarusian-Czech mixed commission for economic, industrial and sci-tech cooperation on 4 May.
“Over 40 joint projects are under consideration, including energy, engineering, petrochemistry, agriculture,” Alexander Guryanov said.
In his words, Czech companies are taking part in upgrade projects at Grodno Azot and Naftan, construction of new power plants, production of locomotives. Besides, Czech companies are engaged in two new construction projects in Belarus: a stock breeding complex and a transport and logistics center in Minsk Oblast.
After the session of the Belarusian-Czech mixed commission the parties signed a protocol which outlines the specific projects to be implemented by certain companies.
“We aim to implement all the agreements. All previous projects that we discussed are in progress. We hope that new projects will also be successfully implemented,” Alexander Guryanov stressed. The cooperation between Belarus and the Czech Republic is quite extensive, and Belarus expects not only usual export-import transactions but also direct investment from the Czech Republic, Alexander Guryanov noted.
“In addition, we get significant support from financial institutions of the Czech Republic and the EGAP insurance agency. In particular, Belarus is among the EGAP’s four major clients in terms of insurance for export transactions. Many of our projects get insurance and credit support from Czech financial and insurance organizations,” added the Deputy Foreign Minister.
