Belkommunmash assembly plant to open in Chisinau in June

CHISINAU, 30 May (BelTA) – The joint Belarusian-Moldavian company to produce Belkommunmash trolleybuses will open in Chisinau in the second half of June. The Moldavian capital plans to assemble 10 Belarusian trolleybuses by the end of the year, BelTA learnt from the Chisinau City Hall.

This issue was discussed during a working visit of Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca to the electric transport department of the Chisinau Municipality where the joint manufacturing will be conducted.

The first five sets for assembling will arrive to Chisinau from Minsk by 20 June, and the first trolleybus will be assembled in June. Vehicles will be produced under the Belarusian trademark, with the use of Belkommunmash technologies and its after-sales service.

The production line is designed to make at least 4 trolleybuses a month, or 50 a year.

The project will help upgrade the electric fleets of Chisinau and other Moldavian cities. Trolleybuses will be produced for Tiraspol and Beltsy, and exported to the EU.

The relevant protocol on intention to set up a joint assembling plant was signed by Minsk Mayor Nikolai Ladutko and his Moldavian counterpart Dorin Chirtoaca in March 2011.
