Lukashenko: EU wants to ‘overturn’ Belarus

MINSK, 8 October (BelTA) – In the interview to the interstate television and radio company Mir Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko pointed to double standards the European Union uses against Belarus, BelTA has learnt.

“Belarus-EU relations are a continuing example of how the European Union wants to overturn not only our history but our country as well,” the head of state said.

“They keep criticizing us, using double standards,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.

Speaking about the assessment of the parliamentary elections in Belarus by western observers, the President noted: “In the sidelines, they are all unanimous in having no pretensions to Belarus.”

“They all voice it, both openly and secretly, and then write in the reports what have been prepared by Brussels politicians who do not even know where Belarus is. Even if they know, they think that apart from a marsh and two rivers there is nothing here,” Alexander Lukashenko added.
