Belarus prioritizes economic, scientific cooperation with China

MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) – For Belarus it is of crucial importance not only to preserve the current relations with China, but considerably expand the bilateral cooperation in economy, science, culture and education, Deputy Premier, Chairman of the Belarus-China Friendship Society Anatoly Tozik said in a solemn meeting at the Minsk House of Friendship on 25 September to mark the 63rd anniversary of the foundation of the People’s Republic of China.

“We are becoming strategic partners both in politics and economy. The countries exchange regular visits and working meetings at every level. The two countries have witnessed a breakthrough in bilateral investment cooperation in the recent years,” the Vice Premier said.

In 2012 Belarus and China marked the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations. In his address to China President Hu Jintao, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko expressed confidence that “a strong high-level dialogue will make the Belarusian-Chinese relations a paragon for interstate cooperation in the 21st century.”

According to the Vice Premier, this year is of special importance for China. First, the country is gearing up for the 18th Congress of its Communist Party. Another event which can be by right named a turning-point in the country’s history is a successful launch of manned space docking mission Shenzhou 9.

Anatoly Tozik expressed confidence in further strengthening of Belarus-China all-round cooperation.
