Elections to Council of Republic valid in all regions and Minsk

MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) – The elections to the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus were recognized valid in all the regions of Belarus and the city of Minsk on 25 September, BelTA has learnt.

Members of the Council of the Republic are chosen at sessions of local councils in each region and the Minsk City Council – eight people from each region and the city of Minsk. Another eight senators are appointed by the President of Belarus.

The new senators include Brest Oblast Governor Konstantin Sumar, Vitebsk Oblast Governor Alexander Kosinets, Gomel Oblast Governor Vladimir Dvornik, Minsk Oblast Governor Boris Batura and Mogilev Oblast Governor Piotr Rudnik.

Members of the Minsk City Council upheld the candidacies of Speaker of the Council of the Republic Anatoly Rubinov, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) Anatoly Rusetsky, Minsk Mayor Nikolai Ladutko, Chairman of the Board of Amkodor Alexander Shakutin, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the BRSM Youth Union Igor Buzovsky

Other senators include Director General of Belarusian Potash Company Valery Ivanov, Director of Agrokombinat Voskhod of Mogilev District Viktor Pinchuk, Chairperson of the Minsk Oblast Council of Deputies Svetlana Gerasimovich, Chairman of Agrokombinat Snov Nikolai Radoman and a famous businessman, owner of the company Marko Nikolai Martynov.

Presidiums of regional councils of deputies and the Minsk City Council of Deputies are to submit the necessary documents to the Central Election Commission within two days after they hold sessions. Registration of newly elected members of the Council of the Republic will be held before 5 October.
