Elections to Belarus’ Council of Republic to complete 25 September

MINSK, 25 September (BelTA) - The elections to the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the fifth convocation will complete on 25 September, BelTA has learnt.

Elections are held by secret vote at the meetings of deputies of local councils in every oblast and the deputies of the Minsk City Council, eight representatives from each oblast and the city of Minsk.

The results of the elections are sent to the Central Election Commission within two days after all the meetings are held. The final results will be announced not later than 5 October inclusive. Registration of the elected members of the Council of the Republic will be conducted before that date, too.

Eight senators are appointed by the President of Belarus.
