Belryba, Belkommunmash to join FEZ Minsk

MINSK, 5 April (BelTA) – The free economic zone Minsk (FEZ Minsk) will be expanded by the production area of OAO Belryba and a ground area used as part of the production area of OAO Belkommunmash Management Holding Company. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko signed relevant Decree No.152 “Concerning amendments and addenda to Decree No.93 of the President of the Republic of Belarus of 2 March 1998” on 4 April, BelTA learnt from the presidential press service.

Thus, the area of the FEZ Minsk will increase by 13.1 hectares (from 2635.9 to 2649.1 hectares).

OAO Belryba implements investment projects aimed at meeting the country’s needs in high quality fish products. The status of the FEZ Minsk resident will allow the company to reduce its production costs by 8-10% and actively compete with foreign producers both on the domestic and foreign markets as well as increase exports and create up to 90 new jobs.

Belkommunmash Holding Company, in pursuance of the presidential decree, has teamed up with Swiss Stadler Rail AG to implement an investment project at the FEZ Minsk. The project is aimed at the production of passenger electric transport. The project needs €50 million in investment.

This production area is involved in the technological production cycle of trolleybuses, trams, buses with installed hybrid engine units. Its inclusion into the FEZ Minsk will provide every opportunity for further expansion of the production of goods that are in demand on foreign markets and enhance its competitive ability.

The abovementioned decree fully meets the interests of the economic development of both the country and Minsk, and will contribute to investment generation for the development of the fish processing complex and the mechanical engineering production, secure new jobs and enhance the country’s export potential.
